Symbolism in the 4th day

  1. On day four we see that G-d made the two great lights, the greater light to rule the day and the lesser light to rule the night; and the stars.
  2. With a point of reference now for day and night time can be measured by rotations of the Earth in their relation to the Sun – hence the stopwatch above the Earth
  3. G-d said that the lights in heaven will also be signs for seasons and days and years. The band around the Earth symbolizes the passing of these seasons; the brightly colored pattern in the upper right corner directly under the sun is symbolic of spring with bright colors symbolic of newly blooming plants and flowers. Counterclockwise below the clear brightly lit starry sky is a band of bright mostly green toned colors representing the coming of summer. In the lower left corner above the cool moonlight sky represents fall as we see the deep oranges and reds symbolic of the changing colors of leaves. Lastly in the lower right corner above the cold wintery snow flake sky we see the icy blue and white colored pattern symbolic of the winter to come.
  4. Each circle in the lower right corner is representative of snowflakes in the winter sky. The snowflakes are shown here as circles because the true basis of the form of the snowflake comes from the fruit of life blueprint made up of several intertwining circles (the fruit of life) which are the platform on which the individual snowflakes are created, each one different from each other, but all retaining the fingerprint of G-d within.
  1. The numbers 6, 18 and 24 represent a breakdown of the hours of the day, but they are in counter clockwise order to represent that time and day is only relative to where you are on the Earth or in the universe.
  2. 6 also stands for the days of creation, 18 is the symbol of Life and 24 is the number of books in the Tanach.
  3. The Hebrew letters which represent the numbers 3, 6, 9 and 12 around the Earth are representative of the 12 months of the Lunar calendar. The numbers also work to separate the seasons by the number of months in the year before they change.
  4. 3 is also the symbol of holiness and the number of prayers to recite daily, 6 again are the days of creation, 9 is the number of months before human life is created, and 12 is for the perfection of the natural world.
  5. On the stopwatch one sees that the number 9 and 8 are painted larger than the other numbers on the clock. 9 is representative of truth, 8 is symbolic of that which is beyond nature and its (inherently limited) perfection.
  6. The stopwatch is there instead of a clock to show that time has a beginning and end. A stopwatch can also be restarted, so it the endless cycle of beginnings and endings.
  7. The Earth and the Sun are shown to connect with each other via a mechanism in order to demonstrate that although science states the Earth revolves around the Sun, there are more complex motions and other relative viewpoints from the universe and G-d’s view of the Earth as the central point.
  8. On this day we see the stopwatch is present to illustrate that the fourth day is also symbolic of the four dimensions which now exist : length, width, height and time.
